date sort in mailarchive.ietf.org not working in some cases

When first opened, date sorting at https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/search/ works properly.

That is these two URLs produce the desired result. https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/search/?email_list=ospf&so=date https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/search/?email_list=ospf&so=-date

However, after doing a search (for example on "adoption") and grouping by thread, the date sort functionality no longer works.

There is no longer the option to group search results by thread. Group by thread is available when browsing a list, and this list is not sortable further.
