The IETF uses surveys for a variety of purposes, from confirming interoperable implementations for RFC progression to surveys of industry implementation/adoption of IETF RFCs. However, the IETF has no tool to support this.

As a leader of a recent survey, I had to resort to external tools (surveymonkey) and pay for seemingly basic features such as CSV/XLS export of the raw data. Further, some participants are hesitant to provide possibly sensitive data to a third party when responding to a survey request.

It would be quite valuable if we had a data-driven web survey tool which we could use for IETF surveys. This should be relatively simple to create and manage (as compared to many of the more complex tools the IETF has). At a minimum, it would support the automated creation of the Survey Form and questions, data collection and storage upon survey participation, and rudimentary data export functions.
