Problem/Motivation

Uploading video recordings to Dropbox worked great for me before, but at some point it broke. I tried doing a fresh install of the MotionEye addon and the problem is still there. Seems to be this issue: https://github.com/motioneye-project/motioneye/issues/1958 There are some workarounds there but I haven't found the files they are talking about when running as a Home Assistant addon. Unclear if something changed in my setup or if some change in Home Assistant or MotionEye caused it.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install the MotionEye addon.
  2. Add a camera
  3. Go to File storage, check "Upload Media Files"
  4. As upload service select Dropbox, and press "Obtain key"

Expected behavior

Dropbox gives back the key and files can be uploaded.

Actual behavior

Dropbox gives back an error: "Invalid client_id: "dropbox_client_id_placeholder"."

@Erfa have you managed to get any kind of upload mechanism working? currently all of them are broken for me. google drive is broken as we all know because google changed their auth mechanism. dropbox is broken with this issue. sftp fails with key exchange errors. etc etc

I fear that there are no usable upload mechanisms on the dev branch and potentially it's due to lack of issue reporting.

I'm considering writing a systemd timer and service to do this myself, but that really shouldn't be necessary here.
