I'm going to go ahead and merge this (mainly so that I can make some mostly unrelated changes without stacking on to this / dealing with merge conflicts later), but feedback is still very much appreciated!

Also, I tried to mark rmcgibbo as co-author on https://github.com/hauntsaninja/pyp/commit/43829580541922392f5b3651bcdc41930f524432, but I think Github wants an email for co-authoring to actually work :( Sorry about that, and thank you again!
