Not clear whether you'd prefer to leave this issue open, to potentially incorporate the Martin Hawksey stuff and/or Bruce McPherson's gasgit stuff, or whether you'd like me to close it.

Don't hold your breath on that one! I've taken at least two, and perhaps three, runs at it and haven't met with success. But we can leave it open and assigned only to me, if you want. Or I can close it.
