7 years ago This would cost us the ability to easily implement auto-updating. We could still roll our own solution to that, but that's a significant cost to development speed that, as a free hobby oss project, could be detrimental to this project's overall growth.
Maybe an app desiring auto-update capabilities isn't the right app to explore this idea in.
Sunil Pai had an interesting idea on Twitter I'd like to look at sometime. This could potentially significantly lower bundle size and use existing chrome installs
