Basro, the end is near? #825

Due to recent updates and a marked decline in the popularity of this game. I decided that I would express my opinion on your actions throughout all these years. I think that you have wasted the potential of the game, which no one can play at any moment, which is sad, because it's best hybrid of football with hockey.

Let's start with the html5 port. Why it happened so late? Do not you think that you should finish it much earlier? The game should be updated at the turn of 2014-2015, where many people already had quite limited gameplay with flash player, then many players resigned from the game. If you didn't have the right knowledge, time, you could try to get involved in a development studio, maybe the gameplay would defend itself if you tried to establish a more collaborative relationship with someone? Possibly give information on the site that you are looking for people to support, many Haxball players are also IT specialists, so they would be happy to help u, which could speed up the process of creating Haxball in html5.

Next case. I have the impression that u don't know what game mode players Haxball play the most, if the list of native maps is available, such as hockey or rounded. The most popular Haxball mode, ironically ... is the one created by the players, on their principles, 3DEF. Why was there never a map update, where on the list we would actually have those in which people play? Why you never thought about supporting the 3DEF game and rules, providing a number of rules in game information is the most engaging mode that fans have created for you.

Other issues, deficiencies that cause players to leave are, among others, lack of any challenges, there are no new products, innovations, Anything else, like leagues, servers for Discord, Teamspeak, but there are responsible fans of the game, thanks which she has been holding for so long, because there is no advertising, there is a lack of support from you. Why has there never been an official community, Haxball's forum, why it does not have its own Discord server, and so on, it would be very helpful in acquiring new people, connecting and integrating. The idea for the game is great, there are also a lot of ideas, options that could be introduced years ago and will never be implemented.

Let's go on. I see that you are updating something for some time, but damn it ... why is there still no extensive replay player that allows us to share our matches? Do not you think that it should be very important? The only such player is on the fan site, and on the page with the game there is not, after all, it's some nonsense. If one of the fans did it in 2 weeks, and you have not done such repetition for 2 years, then something is wrong, do not you think?

Referring to extrapolation, the last change. I have the impression that your biggest problem is the fact that you totally do not understand players who have been playing for years and their needs, you don't know exactly what is going on around the game. Haxball, since I remember, has enormous problems with optimization, which is why I have to understand extrapolation, and then take it a moment, where is the logic here? I play a game for over 9 years and the introduction of extrapolation was one of your better decisions ... despite the absurd fact, which is hopeless optimization, because game physics is changing regularly, the ball is free, once too fast, to extrapolate in some way it interacts, it helped reduce it. Although it is true that the game should be programmed well enough to work on any equipment without a problem ... because it does not have great requirements. It seems to me that you can not quite feel it, notice it, because you are at a worse level than those who have been playing it for many years, so you do not really understand the problem. Fortunately, you restored it, with me the ball is very slow on the basic configuration and therefore I have to combine extrapolation.

Ending this post. I have a huge regret for u that you have wasted the potential of this game. Who knows, maybe over time you would make more money on it. You could create something like patrons, where you would mention development objectives, updates, if you needed support resources, then surely there would be some who would like to help in the development of the game, which is slowly forgotten. It's sad, because Haxball had e-sport potential, because here the team game is of great importance and skill of individual players, which is different from such simulators as FIFA, where the game is semi-automated, the Haxball skill is of the utmost importance.

I have the impression that the time of the game is coming to an end, there are fewer players, everything is kept by veterans, the leagues are falling, there is no reliable, big community, no advertising, no cooperation on your part. In this game I met a lot of people with whom I established a long contact, I competed in the leagues together, it was really cool spending free time, a break from everyday life. I grew up on Haxball and it's really sad that the end is closer than ever. If not for the league, fans, compilations of people playing this game, many of us would not have stayed here for so long and did not recognize the game.

What's next? Will we not see any innovations here? You don't regret the wasted potential of ur project? I think that many of us expected more from you. Well, that's all from the argument of the guy who wasted 9 years on this simple browser game. Thanks for the adventure, what was the fun at Haxball.

At the end of the question, are u going to do something more with this game, will nothing change?

Hold on, cya.

I've been playing since 2011 and this game had (and still, I still believe) a huge potential. You talked about all the obvious things that do not exist on this game.

I was administrator of the French community of Real Soccer (RSC) and the community no longer exists because there is considerable lack of support and recognition of Basro. This has been sorely missed to prevent inactivity on the game and therefore has an impact on communities.

I totally agree that there is a lack of an official community and events to weld players and build loyalty. The only way to get people on the game are the promotional videos made by players (and me) but it's not enough to keep the game alive ...

Even if the updates are a little late, they exist. Maybe we see the light at the end of the tunnel but it will take more to give a second wind to the game and especially listen to the players because they are the ones who have the best ideas to improve Haxball.

The game definitely lacks support, basically it looks as if it has never had it. For many years in the rooms I meet the same people who are crumbling every year, and when I mention my friends about Haxball, they hear about this game for the first time.

It also hurts the fact that wider suggestions, arguments towards the Basro are perceived by him as an attack on him. I think that, first of all, there is a lack of publicity, promotions, that there will be a wave of new players, and there are many ways to do it. Basro's communication with players is also weak, lack of integration, understanding of his side often hurts.

Dear Basro there has been recent update which has compelety destroyed Haxball. The way your playing has changed the size problem. The view of the screen has been fucked up. This just happend 1hr or 2hr ago. Like can you explain what was your point doing this? This is nonsense. Haxball is becoming a meme. 111 Please this if you can put the previous update much appreicated. Haxball is turning into a meme.

It looks like basro stopped pushing updates in 2020 which is ironic since so many ppl were sequestered in their homes around that time.

Basro, don't listen to stupid heads like ghost.

I think a legit criticism would be something like, why haven't you made haxball a Steam game after all this time??? You could have been selling a stand-alone client for $10 or $15 USD or something, then used that income to help fund more time in developing the game further -- maybe find better ways to optimize / stabilize the network code, or have it hosted on a couple regional servers that help reduce latency. I've seen some cheap knock-off type games over the years on mobile (finger soccer star: online) and Steam, that have a similar concept but are a bit more gimmicky, or are turn based and have the usual ads / in-app purchase garbage that I detest and won't go near (Disc Golf Valley is one of the few that does it acceptably, IMO).

Anyway, if you are giving up on Haxball, could you possibly release the source code to your Git here, to help out aspiring programmers with how to do their collision code and stuffs? TY
