PlugY doesn't start #6

So I have 1.14d installed, it works on its own when its unmodded. Then I installed PlugY by downloading the zip and moving all the files in it to the d2 folder. When I try to run the PlugYRun.exe nothing happens. I have tried to run it as admin and in compatability mode but nothing changes.

This is the PlugY log: https://pastebin.com/EhJrEsvp

I don't really have any Antivirus or something that could be the reason I don't think. I'm really not sure why it just doesn't do anything.

ChaosMarc commented 4 years ago

Did you really extract and copy all files and folders from the zip? The log states it can't find the LocalizedStrings.ini in the "PlugY" subfolder that has to be in your diablo folder

AntonReinhard commented 4 years ago

I did copy that folder and I just checked the file is in there.

AntonReinhard commented 4 years ago

Ah, it tries to load the strings from the wrong folder for whatever reason? The path it says in the log is another installation of d2 I have, but not the one on 1.14d, idk why that link would be pointing somewhere else though?

AntonReinhard commented 4 years ago

Can confirm that that was the only problem. If I copy the localized strings file to where it searches for it then it works. I don't know why it searches in the wrong d2 install though.

Very interesting. I think I know what the issue is and it's a really easy fix. I think it's pulling that path from the registry. I'll leave this open until I get a chance to confirm and fix it. I apologize for the slow response time, I've been super busy with work recently and haven't had the time I've wanted to work on this.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

No problem! Thanks for doing this at all.

Registry might be an explanation as it also loads saves from somewhere else, not actually sure from where, but definitely not from the saves folder.

npel-21 commented 4 years ago

Just commenting to say I have the same issue. Guessing it's because I kept my normal D2 folder for Battle Net at C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II but I have all my Plugy stuff in C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II - Plugy.

Warren1001 commented 4 years ago

For reference, this issue is also present in regular PlugY if you install using the installer under certain circumstances. Since the registry path is no longer needed, the base path should just be the local folder the environment receives upon starting, which would throw generic errors if required files are not found.

Clean installation, does someone know what's going on? https://pastebin.com/Fvv10duV

ChaosMarc commented 4 years ago

What is your Diablo 2 version? 1.14b or 1.14d? The readme states only compatibility to 1.14d

konradmazur1 commented 4 years ago

My apologies, I accidentally missed the most important thing. Everything works now. thank you.

E'llol all. 3rd attempt to install after cleaning my old versions of Vanilla LOD & removing all D 2 files. Install was followed as per the instructions in this thread, & as per the notorious Mr. Llama SC in his newest video on how to install the most recent version of the application. I have red this past thread(only one in existence*) & attempted to relocate the LocalizedStrings files as mentioned above. Its now in both my "base" & "pluggy" folders.

Regardless whether I enter through my Vanilla LOD, my Pluggy LOD, or clicking on the Survival Kit itself- I keep starting with a normal stash, & all the other mods/preferences are the original.

PLZ. SND. HLP.

EDIT/UPDATE-

Clean House(Uninstall + Reinstall*) fixed issue(s).

Thank you for all the content + hard work.
