HoD Media Studies Trial

When trialling my website I gave it to the head of media studies to begin with due to her eye for design. In terms of functionality there was no issues and everything worked as expected for her. But as I was watching her navigate the site I noticed when scrolling down slightly she was unable to click the header slideshow arrows, she didnt realise what it was and just srolled to the top and it worked fine. I inspected the element and realised that the logo on the header was a large square that covered all other elements on the page and if a user was to scroll anything under that square would be unclickable. Image In order to fix this i set the logo css to pointer events none so it virtually was uninteractable.

Along with that some more of her advice was the footer, she like the design but in terms of alignment she felt that the menus shouldve been closer together to seperate it from the contact menu and have navigation links seperate. (Even though they are currently inactive). She also felt that the logo text got lost in the red and wasnt vibrant enough. With photoshop I was able to fill in the logo text background with white and change the text to black to bring out a strong contrast. Image

Student Feedback

I also gave the website to a fellow digital technologies student. He loved the website and thought it was defiantly better than our current webiste and reflected our school better. This student is a friend of mine and is a photographer like myself. We collaborated on getting images for this website and he provided alot of sports images from a previous interschool and I provided the school fronts and debating pictures. He noticed that there was no credit to himself, and this is a legal implication that needs to be addressed. So by adding a title attribute to the images I could credit the images to him.

SBHS Marketing and Communications coordinater Trial

I also gave my website to the schools marketing person. She is in charge of the current school website. I let her navigate the webiste and she was blown away. She loved the colours the crisp and clear vision that I was going for. She especially liked the news section which the current school website doesn't have. She didnt have anything that I should improve and said that it was better than the current website the school have.
