Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. try to download any app from market
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected: start downloading, see progress in notification bar.

instead: stalled at status "starting download", never progresses, no
notification.

What build are you using?
5.0.1G

Do you have apps-on-sd?
No.

What radio?
2.22.19.23, data connection is working properly in other applications like
mail etc.

Did you wipe after flashing (yes if you are on an auto-wipe build)?
Yes. Prior and after flashing. Just to be sure. Retried the whole
procedure, same result. image before was JF1.43 ADP1.1 which didn't have
this problem.

Please provide any additional information below.
backed up apps with astro prior to flashing. reinstalled via adb. some are
not working. (powermanager, quickpedia)

It seems that everyone running the G builds is having this issue at the moment,
unfortunately. It started yesterday, around 10pm.

2 Apps (Keep WiFi and Wifi Lock) I installed moments before flashing to the
Haykuro
5.0.1g ROM were automatically reinstalled after the wipe/flash. I am
experiencing
the same as above, the only difference being that the apps I choose to
download now
stick at "staring download" BUT the 2 that automatically installed are at the
bottom
of the list and marked as Installed (and are functioning properly)

Also note that "3rd party applications" are able to be installed from
downloaded
*.apk files.

Same issue, but something weird happen when I reverted back to a JF release.
When I
last shutdown on the 5.0.1G release they were still stuck at starting download.
I did
a wipe and reflash of JF 1.43 Holiday. When the phone booted for the first time
the
apps suddenly showed up and installed, with out me doing anything at all.

Please see Issue 141 - has clear reason as to why App Store has stopped working
for G
builds.

you mean that not being able to download from the market has to do with the
bluetooth-api? sorry, but I don't see the connection. someone could point me to
the
reason?

so it looks like google has banned the G versions from market:
http://preview.tinyurl.com/dlg4eh

what I just noticed is that under Build in my phone it says "unknown", what in
comparison does the H build say. do they work with the market?

Original comment by joachim....@gmail.com on 16 Apr 2009 at 12:24

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I used the H build to download all my apps again, this time backed them up :)
Then went back to G build (because it actually works) and then installed them
manually with the SDK

I'm using 5.0.1Gr2-appstosd and I had all of my downloads queued in the
"starting to
download..." phase and one of them randomly completed. Only one (Kidd
GBC),however,
and nothing else. All other apps (paid and free) continue to be stuck in the
queue. WTF?!

Does anyone know of a site where you can download the same .apk files that are
on the
market

A complete mirror of the market sure would be awesome, but i am pretty sure
that,
since the G build is banned, so would a program that copies and mirrors
everything.
This would also create a "work around" for getting paid apps for free, which im
guessing would be a big no-no!

actually the market does infact work... i am running H build on my G1 and
everything
works fine so i decided to put G build on my girls G1 and the market does work,
it
just takes a long time for the download to go through. ive downloaded a few
apps and
it must of taken about 30 mins for it to finalize. so if you have patience the
download will finish and the market will work. try it out for yourself, find an
app
you like, select to download, now forget about it for a while and it let you
know
when its done...

oh and its NOT the "apps to SD" version

Hey Jadams2259 or somebody, please open this ticket back up. The other
currently open
one (152) should be marked as duplicate of this, not the other way around. This
ticket is the original report and hast the most thoural coverage of the
problem. The
problem has persisted across several updates, (r3 doesn't work for me either),
so the
fact that it was filed agaist the original failing version is irrelevant. Lots
of
forum threads link to this ticket, so it would be best to keep it open as the
most
central place for the status of this issue to be tracked. Thanks for your work
triaging issues.

a new ROM from TheDudeoftheworld is also Android 1.5 based and in this build
market
is working. maybe this helps to fix the market issue on G-builds from Haykuro.
