Alarm causes infinate boot screen #146

I don't know if this is an app compatibility glitch or a problem with the
build. When you set
an alarm on Klaxon, it crashes the whole OS. If this is another app 1.5 api
compatitability
problem, I apologise for waisting your time.

I was using the paid version of Klaxon on the 5.0.2H buld. (no apps to SD)
After setting an
alarm, the first time the screen sleeps, the phone freezes. I pulled the
battery and restarted
the phone but it wold get stuck looping the HTC boot image and chime sound. The
only way
to restore it was to perform a wipe. I reinstalled Klaxon to see if maybe it
was just a fluke,
but the same results repeated.

I know app compatibility issus are common with Android 1.5, and usually mean
that the dev
just has to update with the new SDK, but I haven't read about any apps that
caussed the
infinate loop boot screen.

Klaxon has been reported to not work on the 1.5 firmware so you should stick to
the
stock alarm app until klaxon is updated to work with 1.5.

I just wanted to add that Klaxon does work in the G build but not the H build.
Also,
android apps are suppose to run in a "sandbox" meaning that if an app crashes
it will
just force close and not crash the OS. That's like the difference between
"Program
not Responding" and the blue screen of death in Windows. Both of these facts
suggest
that this is more than just a 3RD party app issue.

Not sure of the best place to put this, but you can add Contact Owner from the
market
to the list of apps which cause the infinite HTC loop on 1.5

I'm guessing both of these access SDK tools to launch when the phone is turned
on. So
that may help in where to go looking.

Cheers,

Alan.
