Won't connect to data network when on ATT. #184

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What build are you using? Do you have apps-on-sd? What radio? Did you wipe
after flashing (yes if you are on an auto-wipe build)?

Newest radio build linked. Tried both the G and H builds on dev phone 1. No
apps on sd. Wiped.

Please provide any additional information below.

Phone makes calls and sends/receives text messages fine, but will never
connect to the data network even on reboot. Wifi works fine. Can't force a
connection. ATT network.

Cant help you specifically with the data plan problems, but I can tell you for a
solid fact that you wont get 3G on ATT with a G1. TMO owns the carrier bands
(1700/2100) that the G1 uses, ATT uses 850, which wont work. So enjoy having
your
low-speed G1 I guess.

It does work on AT&T, you need to do the following:

From the home screen bring up the menu button, go into settings, click on
wireless
controls (top option), click on mobile networks (2nd from the bottom), Access
Point
Names (2nd from the bottom), bring up the menu, click on New APN.

Name: AT&T (or anything you like)
APN: wap.cingular

Leave the rest blank, you don't need to reboot to make this work, just turn
airplane
mode on and then off.
