phone won't reboot after applying SPL #359

New (less than a month old) T-Mobile G1 UK.

followed steps from here

first off recovery.img didn't work so tried following steps for
recovery.img from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=533731
that didn't work then found out I had to copy recovery.img to \data
recovery.img worked and I got recovery mode
HARD SPL didn't work.
so followed steps from here

radio installed ok and phone rebooted
installed SPL, all looked ok but then phone hung on the G1 logo after I
rebooted, can't access SD card, I have a reader at parents so will try over
again.
