Hmmm ... what might be happening here is the startup script for the
BigBlueButton VM
will update all the packages.
Canonical recently updated the packages for OpenOffice to 3.2. We're now
testing
against in 0.64, but that upgrade might have broken something in 0.63 VM.
We'll take a closer look and see what's happening. Look for a follow-up post
to this
bug report shortly.

Hi NealeJustin,
We can confirm the error on our end. We'll take a closer took at why its
fixing. In
all likelihood, we can release an update to BigBlueButton that will seamlessly
slipstream into the BigBlueButton 0.63 VM startup.
In the meantime, we verified that PDF documents are working fine on 0.63.
Thanks again for alerting us to this problem!

Thanks for the prompt troubleshooting, nice to know it wasn't something I was
doing
wrong on my end. I'll keep checking back and will test as soon as you have a
fix.

Hi Justin,
It looks like the process bbb-openoffice-headless isn't restarted after
openoffice
updates.
To restart, enter
sudo /etc/init.d/bbb-openoffice-headless start
sudo /etc/init.d/bbb-openoffice-headless start
or simply reboot the VM
sudo reboot
You should be able to present MS Office documents again in BigBlueButton.

Just a little edit to Fred's note, to have the bbb-openoffice-headless process
running, you can restart it as follows:
sudo /etc/init.d/bbb-openoffice-headless stop
sudo /etc/init.d/bbb-openoffice-headless start

Great, that worked thank you.
Looking forward to seeing what new features you will release in 0.64. Thus far
I am
very impressed with the tool. It is significantly better than the Global
Crossing
service we use at work.
Only missing feature compared with Global Crossing is the ability to record
which is
useful for training presentations.

Glad you like BigBlueButton. The recording and playback feature is in the works
and
will probably appear in the next few months
