This a thing I really struggled the last days. Common usage pattern is, at least in social media: Type url in browser (or click on page logo to reload) -> get latest news/content on social media platforms in a feed, no additional clicks needed, just scrolling required:
twitter.com -> i see new stuff in the feed
facebook.com -> i see new stuff in the feed
researchgate, linkedin, almost every page follows this concept, even github.com -> latest activity in projects
(youtube.com - little bit different, has recommendations)
OER world map -> i have to click on "Activity feed" or click something else, otherwise there is no new content present; feels a little bit blank (for logged-in users)
How do we deal with that? Any smart, quick, pragmatic approaches, which require no fundamental changes? Maybe integrate the activity stream/feed in the center of the screen for logged-in users? (above the map?)
Or include an sidebar on the right side with a feed for logged-in users? I think that would be the best option, if we do not want to introduce a completely new interface. Sidebar of my dreams: Flexible width (can be dragged by user)
