Force PAL 60 causes BSOD on some NTSC games #152

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start Shiren the Wanderer or Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal
Bearers (both NTSC versions)
2. Any CIOS, all settings default, except FORCE PAL60
3. Use RGB cable for the PAL Wii

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
All you get is a black screen and a completely crashed Wii. If I choose "game
default" video mode, the game works normally - except that the colors are red
(using RGB cable).

What version of the loader are you using?
69 release version, but also many versions prior to this. Same problem.

What is your System Menu version (e.g. 4.2u)?
4.2e

What is your media type (HDD, USB Flash, SD/SDHC)?
External USB hard drive

How is your media formatted (wbfs, fat32, ntfs)?
NTFS

Which cios are you using, which version, which base (222,249,...)?
(Please try both 249 and 222 with cfg-222.dol)
249, d2x v6 with base 57 (also tried Hermes 222 5.1 base 38, and Waninkoko rev
21, base 56)

Does it work with other loaders?
I do not know.

Does it work with the latest or an older version?
Nope.

Please provide any additional information below.

I forgot to add... the Force PAL60 option works well for many other NTSC games.
I have only had this problem with the aforementioned two titles.

forcing of video modes does not work for all games.
