VSC Not responding fully on Samsung Chromebook 1 #5

Script ran fine and VSC installed properly however the application is not working properly. Cannot open a new or existing file, change settings, etc. If I click on the File, Go, Edit, etc menu it works fine but nothing happens upon clicking the individual menu items.

Saw the update from yesterday and reran the script. Still no improvement. Admittedly this is on an old chromebook but I'm trying to find development solutions for really old machines so if there is anything I can do to make this work on here please let me know. Thanks!

Hi,

It should certainly work on the Samsung anyway, so if it isn't we'll need to find out why.

can you try updating to the latest version?

(Inside the terminal it should be as simple as sudo apt-get install -y code-oss)

Hi,

Cool project, Jay! I observed the same behavior described here on my first-generation Pixel. I just updated to the latest version, and it is now functioning correctly. I installed using your script and the terminal command to update in the Chrome shell was sudo sh ~/Downloads/crouton -u -n code-oss-chroot

Hi Chris,

Good work finding the solution to this!

I'll maybe look at adding a secondary alias that updates the chroot and packages as you've done here, as its sure to help anyone that gets stuck.

Thanks for providing the answer to this one!

Fed - can you confirm this resolves the issue for you too?

Jay, Chris, thanks for the options. Jay, yes, that did it. The code-oss-chroot command along with a reboot has it working just fine. I'll play around with it a bit and let you know if anything odd pops up. Thanks again for your work on this! Close this thread?
