Cannot see dashboard configuration with admin account #685

Hello,

I followed the instructions here https://docs.omnisci.com/immerse/working-with-dashboards/configuring-a-dashboard , but I cannot see the configuration icon, and it was not disabled. Can someone help me? as I need to configure the dashboard to change the axis label fonts and such. Thank you.

I'm using the admin user on Immerse with free edition and I haven't any problem

I was using firefox on ubuntu 18.04, also Immerse and omniscidb were running in the same system.

Anyway, I never encountered a problem like yours using immerse.

Which OS/browser are you using? Maybe you are facing a CSS problem, but I am not so skilled on front-end programming.

what is imerse? Edit: Sorry I didn't know it was called immerse but I am using that too. do you have any idea how to view server.Json?

HI,

servers.json, is an optional file needed to customize the web UI, and the location is specified into omnisci.conf file with the parameter servers-JSON

To let me help you better, can I ask you which steps you did to install the software and which edition you are using.

e.g. Free edition, with a 5.xx version preinstalled AWS machine or Free edition on a Docker install of Omnisci 5.xx

can you confirm that you haven't access also to the Filter and Parameter page?

I have access to filters. I did not install it myself, and when I access it, it's through an IP. I am not sure I can give the full IP, but I will give part and asterik part. I have to connect to my university's VPN then I can access it. 10.206.203.**:***/login

Ah ok, it's a private network, so I haven't clues how It was installed.

I tried with Windows 10 and Chrome without any issue.

Can you try to enable browser debugging by pressing F12 and then loading the application..in the console Tab errors would show up; also the network tab would be useful.

I am sorry for asking so many things to help you, but we haven't so much information to assist you.

Anyway, do you mind continuing the discussion in the community forum? In Github, the discussions would be about the OS edition only, while in the community forum, we have a section reserved for Immerse.

I have set up something to check if the problem is your client/network or it's the configuration of the omnisci installation of your university.

just try this link http://candido.zapto.org/omnisci/dashboard/7?tab=-M_yYC1RMemu1P4Gna31 you should automatically join a small dashboard where you should see the tool to change the style of the charts

Then you can re-login with a user names test PW: test that hasn't the admin privilege, and so you shouldn't see the button to change the style. This test is just to check if someone that administer your omnisci installation has changed the default copnfiguration.

I can see the icon now. I am not sure how to login as non admin, as I only have one account. What information should I include that you would think would be most relevant to the community forum to get the most help.

well, the first login is ad admin. If you log out manually and then login with the user test/test, you shouldn't see the icon (check if it's the same one you are seeing in your university system)

to logout manually use the icon located into the right upper corner image

Yes I can see it as admin and cannot see it as test. Just to verify you are asking me to do this in your database not mine.

Yes, so you browser and your network looks ok; peraphs you should ask to verify the configuration of the omnisci in your network.

Using the test user are seeing exactly what you seen when you connect to your DB?

Because I created and ad-hoc user that I called test on my system, for testing purposes. The only use that is automatically created when a system is initialized is admin.

If you want to create a user called test, connect to immerse with an admin account, go in the SQL editor and type

Create user test (password='test');

Then run another query to give the permission on a specific database (in the following example I am using the omnisci database)

Grant all on database omnisci to test;

Running those commands you will be sure that your user is an admin user.
