we should be able to install the shelf during the "Do Something Hours" on March 3rd and measuring might even begin this Wednesday already.
Camille, Reagan and I will install four 50 cm brackets holding 300 kg each and mount two 50x200 cm boards on them. The result will be storage over each of the black wall sections and "indirect" storage for very long boards bridging over the pinboard.
The installation has to be postponed, hopefully only until tomorrow! We can already clean up the other overhead shelves and organize them more effectively, though.
Mounted two 2-m-shelves tonight, each bracket should hold 300 kg but the boards themselves would probably fail before that ;-)
They are level and on the same height, even though it may look different: the black wall sections are uneven! Since they did the majority of the work, Camille and Reagan will have priority to use it for their project!
It would be nice to have some space for intermediately storing private projects (especially big wooden boards/furniture parts, see #117 for sheet material storage), e.g. overhead in the main room.
We had some guests yesterday who would like to help setting up a long shelf over the "wall of spam", and @HerrBaumhaus and I have started thinking about mounting something to the ceiling in the entrance area. Safety is extremely important of course!
My original idea was to mount steel profiles and some kind of failsafe (e.g. a net) directly on the beams stretching from the glass wall to the bar, but that part of the ceiling does not seem to be very solid...
