SwiFTP 'deactivated' most of the files on my SD Card #70

What steps will reproduce the problem? Please include as much detail as
possible.

1. Installing SwiFTP
2. Setting up the Server
3. Connecting to the server via my FTP client
4. Transfering two files (which worked)
5. Tried to transfer eight more files (which failed)
6. Noticing that the folder was shown as empty via FTP (but there should have
been files inside)
7. Logging out the FTP client
8. Checking my folders via ES File Manager on my Device and noticing that most
of them were shown as empty
9. Trying to access my Pictures via the Gallery App - but the pictures weren't
shown
10. Trying to acess my MP3s via the Music Player - but my music couldn't be
played
11. Trying to shut down the device and noticing that it was still not shut down
after some minutes
12. Pulling out the battery, pulling it in again, start the device
13. Big releif - my files are back!

What is the expected behavior? What do you see instead?

The expected behaviour is being able to transfer files via FTP. Instead it made
most of the files on my SD Card inaccessible till I restarted the device. And
it seemed to cause that I wasn't able to restart my device without pulling the
battery out.

What version of SwiFTP are you using?

The latest. Can't check since I deinstalled this dangerous thing now.

What operating system are you using?

Kubuntu Linux 8.04

Which FTP client are you using?

FileZilla 3.0.7.1

Which Android device and version do you have (Nexus, Droid, Hero, G1,
etc.)?

HTC Desire (2.1-update1)

May we contact you by email to ask questions? If so, what is your email
address?

Please provide any additional information below. The more details, the
better.

What should I say more. I can't give you any technical details. I just did what
I wrote above and it made my device go crazy. Fortunately the files were back
after restarting the device - but on the other hand it's disturbing that I had
to take the battery out to restart the device. I use my Desire for over two
months now and such a thing never happened before.

This is indeed strange. Without any technical details I'm baffled.

It sounds like the memory card was mounted (from a PC) halfway through the
process, which would explain the so-called "deactivated" folders, and the
inability to see files from the music player or picture viewer.

I don't see any way that this could be a SwiFTP bug, though anything is
possible. Classifying this report as invalid until evidence of a swiftp bug is
provided.
