Thoughts on bringing external contributions for design #290

Hi! First of all, a quick thank you. You succeeded in your vision. I was reluctantly moving away from my computer to compose music on paper because I needed a distraction free environment. Now Helio is my most booted up music software!

Of course, every project is bound to grow. With that comes the need to amend, remove and add to the user interface and experience and I don’t think I need to spend time explaining to you how the design of Helio is its cornerstone as you are the core contributors. This can be a touching issue since this might create tension between the need to remain in control of the experience and the need to have people work on the interface.

This is why I opened this issue, so that I and other people can get a better idea of where you stand on the topic, open up discussion on what can be or not be worked on, and how.

I care for the project and as a self-taught designer I know how important UI is to people that use software. If I can contribute to any part of the project I would be more than glad to, starting of course in the small like any new contributor to a open-source project.

Thank you for your time :)

I have sadly found out about this discussion and I will both state that I will never want to be involved in your community and that Helio has now a fork https://github.com/helio-fm/helio-sequencer/discussions/207
