ADPU Payload Error companion app sent wrong size #1316

Closed gtdurham closed 2 years ago

gtdurham commented 2 years ago

When I try to send HNT from my Ledger Nano X, I get the error message - ADPU Payload Error, companion app sent wrong size. Can you please explain how to resolve this issue? Thanks

Zerkaman commented 2 years ago

I get the exact same notification on my ledger display. Am wondering if this is a fresh problem seeing as you and I are the only people posting about it. Regardless, as of now - my HNT is locked in my wallet and can't be sent. Very frustrating.

Zerkaman commented 2 years ago

I would add for the sake of relevancy - am trying to send HNT to Binance. I notice Kucoin has nodes that are in perpetual maintenance.

Support to send Ledger payment on the Wallet (this repo is actually the hotspot app) app is not yet available. this is why you're seeing the problem. Please try again when it's announced.

Is there any update on this issue? I am receiving the same issue and am wondering if it is related to needing to update the device app version or the desktop version.

Zerkaman commented 1 year ago

Apologies. I was able to resolve the issue by going and downloading the latest version of the helium wallet. Apparently my wallet at the time wasn’t the newest version.

@Zerkaman , thanks for following up. I started using the Ledger HNT wallet prior to the new guidance around importing the ledger wallet via the mobile app (see here). That said, my mobile wallet HNT app is not synced with my ledger wallet. I created a wallet on the Helium blockchain totally just using my ledger device and have accessed it via the CLI. My suspicion is that there is a version incongruency with the device HNT app and the desktop app. No matter how many times I try to use the latest desktop app (v2.2.4), it keeps call the old version in the CLI (v2.1.3).

Any tips? I'd appreciate it! Worried my HNT is locked up :(

@Zerkaman this is the CLI. Notice the device app and desktop app difference.

I really don’t. I wish I did. If your HNT ends up locked perpetually, I’d say that eventually it’ll become ubiquitous and the problem will solve itself as more and more people use it and the problem becomes more common. I know that doesn’t help you in the short term, but I wouldn’t worry about never ever being able to get your hands on it properly. I think it will happen eventually just by default.

I only had about a grand worth of money locked up in my HNT, so even if I didn’t manage to get unlocked (which I did), the hit wouldn’t have been the end of the world.

I was so frustrated that I thought about making a YouTube video posting and waiting for the comments to roll in. You’d have to assume that other people are experiencing the same problem and looking for answers there. Maybe that is a route you could go.

Thanks. I've submitted a ticket with Ledger. It feels as though they should resolve this as they were the ones who recommended using experimental mode in the first place. Will post the results here.

cameronnili5 commented 1 year ago

Just want to close this out... I resolved the issue. The problem was that when I setup my Ledger HNT wallet, there was no new Helium Wallet App (now there is) so I needed to use my CLI to access the wallet (super clunky UX!). Now, with your ledger, you can simply import your HNT wallet into the Helium Wallet App (an app that is separate from the hotspot app). Much better UI/UX!!

I am also having this same issue. Helium-ledger-cli not working, not able to send transactions from it

Zerkaman commented 1 year ago

My solution ended up being to download version 2.2.3

I was trying to make the transfer on version 2.1.3 and that appears to have been the problem. Was unaware that a new version had been released at the time. Likewise, I also downloaded the Helium Wallet App and connected my ledger to it.

Beyond any of that, I don’t think I’d be any help. Good luck!

What version of ledger were you using?

Nothing working for me right now, not even the Helium App

Zerkaman commented 1 year ago

I don’t remember what version the ledger firmware specifically was at that point, but the helium cli I was incorrectly trying to use was version 2.1.3

I was unaware that helium had released an update. I downloaded the latest version and boom - everything transferred out fine. I don’t know if they’ve released an even newer version since then, but you might wanna check.

I recommend not using the CLI method as it seems like there is no active support for that anymore since the new Helium Wallet App is available.

Zerkaman commented 1 year ago

Thx. Will do so if and when I sell remainder of my stash.

You may experience this error if you are using a Macbook Pro M2, my solution was to switch to a Windows PC and try it, and it worked fine
