Dell Latitude 7380 testing report #132

Open darkstar opened 3 years ago

darkstar commented 3 years ago

I got the chance to do a quick test of hello on a Dell Latitude 7380.

Things that work:

Things that don't work:

Things that I didn't test (yet)

If there's anything needed, logs, output from commands, whatever, I can try to provide that.

hello @darkstar Thanks for testing. If you don't mind, running and uploading a Hardware Probe would be helpful.

Touchpad: Possibly related to https://github.com/helloSystem/ISO/issues/120

Hardware probe is here

suspend/resume seems to work fine (tested with zzz in a terminal)

Hot-plugging an external HDMI monitor didn't work, but the second monitor was detected and is working fine when it was connected during boot

There is heavy graphics tearing when something animated is on screen (the "Welcome!" scroller at startup, or when moving a window), but I guess that's not related to that particular laptop but to the graphics driver in general...?

Having a second monitor connected makes the touchscreen alignment go completely out of whack: the x-coordinate is basically doubled, so you can move the mouse cursor over both screens by touching the internal screen only, but you have basically no feedback on where your "touch" will land :-D

Wireless is detected, but the "Scan" button in the GUI does not list any SSIDs. Configuring the network manually also doesn't work. This is probably a GUI problem since the hardware seems to be detected just fine

Question: should I file separate bug reports for all/some of these issues?

@probonopd I have same wifi problems on my latitudes. Wifi woth working on older ISO's like 0.6.0 and some 0.7.0 prerelise builds. This my hardwear prob on Dell latitude 7380.

What happens if you open Applications -> Under Constructions -> Network? Does it show the available networks when you click the right-hand-corner WLAN icon in the menu bar?

ijiki16 commented 2 years ago

When I go to Wireless Networks (Applications -> Preferences -> Wireless Networks) (There is no wifi icon on menu bar) it shows wlan0 adapter & scanning shows nothing.

When I go to network (Applications -> Under Constructions -> Network) it shows my wifi & some others. After entering this network app normal wireles network app started working too (scanning wifi works) & wifi icons showed up on menu bar.

I sold latitude 7380 this test was done on latitude 7480 (I think they have same wifi adapter) this is my new hardwear prob with "fixed" wifi.

Thanks for confirming @ijiki16. We will probably remove Applications -> Preferences -> Wireless Networks in favor of Applications -> Under Constructions -> Network at some point.

Thanks @probonopd, that would be really nice in 0.8.0
