hello @impetus1
I am trying to understand your use case. What is it that you would like to achieve?
Are you trying to put a symlink to an .app
bundle in /Applications
or one of its subdirectories? This should just work. (If it doesn't, then it's a bug.)
Are you trying to set a different application than Filer to handle symlinks? Please note that the whole topic of file type associations (MIME type handling) is still subject to change in helloSystem because we want to get away from the XDG way of defining which application is used to open which documents. That being said, I think that folders (and hence, symlinks to folders) should always be handled by the default file manager, which is Filer in helloSystem?
hello @impetus1 can you please clarify what you are trying to achieve?
Currently a symlink to a folder causes all folders to perform the same action as defined in symlink settings so, a folder which symlinks to a file in the folder to open applications alone would be a workaround to using qt-creator to build an 'app', not provided by default on the pkg manager. Adding symlinked folders to the applications folder should be a method to 'pin' or in the documentation, provide a strategy to using qt within the OS.
