I booted helloSystem a few times now using qemu. But i don't like cluttering my system with "use once"-vms nor preparing a usb-stick to boot from.

Luckily i just stumbled across this site: https://distrotest.net/index.php On this site you can spin up a vm with one of the supported distros (on their servers) and connect to it within your browser via noVNC. The FAQ states that they are willing to support any distro simply by requesting it.

This will drastically lower the barrier for "mere mortals" who just want to get a glimpse of helloSystem. Cheers!

As https://distrotest.net/ is already offering FreeBSD and GhostBSD, I am somewhat optimistic that it might work for helloSystem. Although under GhostBSD the mouse pointer was not working out of the box in my short test.

Did you ask for helloSystem at support@distrotest.net already?

Exactly what i was thinking (and experiencing with GhostBSD)

I just did and will let you know :)

Turns out distrotest.net is aware of helloSystem and they have already tried to integrate it. Due to hardware issues the mouse interaction was not possible so they never publicly supported helloSystem. They do however continuously test new releases and once it starts working they will support it on distrotest.net.

So I guess we need to figure out why the mouse is not working there.

Can the issue be replicated on a locally-running QEMU, for example? Do we know more about what they are using for the virtualization, such as the exact settings, so that we can try to reproduce?

Closing this. Please comment here if anyone finds out how to reproduce this without being the server operator of distrotest.net.
