What is this issue about? Works for me in GIMP and Inkscape.

Sorry! I should have tested, but something recently gave me the impression that apps of this type would not work with the global menu. Not bookmarked so I can't find it now.

In any case, I can confirm that the apps – installed from the FreeBSD repository – do work for me with a 12.1-based helloSystem:

@grahamperrin does firefox and libreoffice works too now?

grahamperrin commented 3 years ago

I could not boot (in VirtualBox) the most recently downloaded ISOs; https://github.com/helloSystem/ISO/issues/102#issuecomment-791971136

There's a separate issue for Firefox

If I remember correctly LibreOffice has been working all along, and @crees has been looking into patching Firefox to make it work but something is still missing.

This is how Inkscape looks like for me (experimental-13.0 from about a week ago): inkscape The menu is not being integrated and a lot of icons missing (thank goodness there are tooltips).

probonopd commented 3 years ago

Regarding the menu:

Please retry with either the 0.4.0 release or the latest continous build; some builds in between were broken in this regard.

It may be necessary to switch away (e.g., to the desktop) and back to the application for the menu to work; this is a known issue with Gtk apps.

Regarding the icons:

Please try sudo pkg install adwaita-icon-theme and see whether this fixes it. If yes, then we might need to add it to the Inkscape placeholder application.

Unfortunately my wifi card is not working with 12.1, that's why I use experimental. Yes, I will try the latest 13.0 build. Switching between Inkscape and desktop has no effect. Pkg says adwaita-icon-theme is already installed.

Pkg says adwaita-icon-theme is already installed.

Please uninstall and reinstall.
