Cannot change screen resolution in VMware #153

Open wjk opened 3 years ago

wjk commented 3 years ago

Title says it all. The screen is fixed to (I believe) 1024x768 when I boot hello in VMware Fusion, and I have not found any means to change it. (What I want to do is resize the window that VMware displays the VM in, and have the resolution change to fit the new, probably larger window size; but the inability to do that may be more a problem with open-vm-tools than with hello.) Thanks!

This is strange. Which version of the ISO are you using?

Please retry with the latest experimental build and/or the 0.4.0 ISO and see whether it makes any difference.

Latest experimental build fixes annoying mouse-cursor flickering during the welcome animation as well as https://github.com/helloSystem/Dock/issues/15, but the resolution problem remains. Results of pciconf -lv | grep -B3 display and kenv smbios.system.product are the same as in https://github.com/helloSystem/hello/issues/101#issuecomment-788774439.

Does running /usr/local/bin/vmware-user-suid-wrapper change the situation? It looks like this is supposed to be started by /usr/local/etc/xdg/autostart/vmware-user.desktop but nothing in helloSystem currently does anything with /usr/local/etc/xdg/autostart/.
