new messages in new threads don't load in an empty room #4

Steps To Reproduce:

select a room with no threads
ctrl+c to create a new thread
add a message
messages still say "New Thread"

If you escape to preview the thread, the messages load.

Any subsequent new threads load correctly.

possibly related: new message event from a previously not-seen room (in the case of a new adhoc group chat) causes an error because the cached chat doesn't exist but we assume it does.
