Some ideas:
interplay of their needs for survival with the surrounding ecosystem (attain resources; build structures; grow families)
imperfect information from #14 could serve as a cool basis for different behaviors
"learning" and "habit forming" and understanding "abstracting principles" and have them act based on that behavior
give them emotions that help dictate behavior
give them interpersonal relationships and social signalling behaviors (inspiration from the sims, rimworld, and dwarf fortress could be good here)
