Once the multi-field card is implemented, this issue will be resolved.
Currently you can use the customize the field in the Settings. In the "Note" field, you can put the phonetic scripts and set the field customization for question to both "Question" and "Note". You can then swipe left and right on the question field to switch your question and note (Phonetic). The TTS function will only read the question field, not the note field.

What is the feature you want? Option to choose the question audio to read a different field than the question field. The use case is I am learning Chinese with Pinyin phonetic script which can not be read as audio. My cards do have the Chinese unicode characters in a different field and I want those to be read instead

Do you think other people also want this feature and why? Many people learn Chinese without learning the characters and having Chinese audio would improve learning.
