How the option of opening KML from network vs file should be displayed to the user?

How would be the menu structure? If you go to "File" menu, network link is not a file. Perhaps an "Open" menu, with options "KML File" and "KML Link"?
Besides being displayed in graph, there should also be a side panel with the tree structure of the KML, right?
