I am using excel as I am good in that. Copying two files (one for Indices and other for scrip from NSE website) and pasting in excel in which I put some simple functions. I paste excel output in text file.

It only take time enough for three time copy-paste, hardly 2 minutes.

Thanks for taking the trouble to help us all out.

Re the equity segment data, been using excel to dump bhavcopy data in to worksheet and then copy/manipulate eq and be data for AB compatible format. Rudimentary workaround as am not proficient with excel or coding.

How are you going about changing the index names to the format being used by GBC?

If you can help with showing how that is to be done, then most should be self sufficient and not needing to bother anyone.

Hi @neerajkrpal , thanks for sharing the excel, in indices you have used vlookup, but for equity you have directly copied from row number, if there is any discrepancy from nse side in any single name being added or removed, whole data will be altered. i think it will be better if you use vlookup for equity list as well

But how will VLOOKUP detect the descripency in ticker name? There is rare chance of that descripency in NSE data, however if that happen and you detect the error after some days, you can merge the symbol in AB.

Hello, what i meant is, even if one new name gets added or removed from current list, your order in output scrip will be distorted since you have directly copied from rows in input scrip

Hey, have created a telegram bot to download nse and bse files, been using since 2 months and working gud. Pls do follow this @Sahav_bot in telegram for downloading equity bhavcopies from both nse and bse. Created a group as well, https://t.me/bhavcopy_amibroker to get everyday bhavcopies

There were only 34 indices in the intial bhavcopy downloaded through getbhavcopy. Please add only those 34. As I can see you have placed space in the indices ticker code which is not right as it will not match any of old indices in Amibroker. List of 34 indices is given below. You can verify the ticker code with old copy downloaded through getbhavcopy and update them in excel. Rest should be dropped. We are generating text file inline with old bhavcopy. here is old bhavcopy 2023-02-09-NSE-EQ.txt

neerajkrpal Sir Getbhavcopy file is working whereas if i convert the file which i get from nse cm then change the date formate and save as ascii txt with comma as delimator that file is not sorted and get error as above and i am now migrated to amibroker 6.3 for the same reson but old date is on another exernal drive which i replaced and put new ssd for fast working so may try to relocate but did not found try after some time, anyway pls make same sample for for BSE also so that we can track bse scrip also but in case of bse we must use scrip code like 500500 since those co change name many time in their lifecycle.thks

With some inspiration from @neerajkrpal sheet I have made this sheet for futures bhavcopy. It's a little tricky to use as a few things need to be kept in mind while using it. You can improve it however you see fit. Please spend some time going through the formulas I have placed in the sheet to understand how it works. Few things to keep in mind are:

1. You'll have to manually update cells B1, B2 and B3 after every expiry. This is extremely important!!!!
2. Date in cell S5 must be manually updated everyday.
3. This sheet is made for the MetaStock format.
4. FINNIFTY expires every last Tuesday instead of Thursday so don't mess with what I've typed in cells Q8, Q9 and Q10.
5. Same goes for MIDCPNIFTY, it has weekly expiries so don't mess with cells Q11 to Q17. Rest will update automatically. You have to download the futures complete bhavcopy filter only Index and Stock Futures then sort them A to Z, then click "Add Level" in the top-left of the Sort dialog box and sort by expiry "Oldest to Newest". Then copy/paste the data into this sheet. Any doubts you can ask.
