<address> tag not supported on Google Maps, despite what it says in documentation

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try and load a KML file into Google Maps that contains just <address
tags, ie no <Points>

What is the expected output or behavior? What do you see instead?
That the placemarks are automatically geocoded. Instead the file fails to load.

Please provide any additional information (code snippets/links) below.
It suggests here:
http://code.google.com/apis/kml/documentation/kmlelementsinmaps.html
that it should work.
So really this is a bug of the documentation, as I dont beleive Maps has
ever supported the tag.
