What should this feature enhancement do?

Currently all icons when shown on Google Maps via KML urls are resized to 
32x32px - so this request is to allow arbitary size icons. 

Are there any currently known workarounds that produce the same, or 
similar, result?

Make 'padded' images that are 32x32px by adding transparent around the 
samller icon. Nothing for bigger icons that I know...

ragnigam,
this issue is about icons display through KML in Google Maps, not Google Earth.
the scale element is not currently supported in Google Maps.

hence the reason for this issue.
