transparency values for <color> does not work for KML in Google Maps

Which products are relevant to this feature request?
It affects only display of alpha (transparency) values in Google Maps.

What should this feature enhancement do?
According to this Google document of supported kml elements in Google Maps
http://code.google.com/apis/kml/documentation/kmlelementsinmaps.html
the transparency values should be supported but they are not.
Please, see GO1a.kml, I uploaded also to the Files section.

Are there any currently known workarounds that produce the same, or
similar, result?
The only way is to make apply the transparency first to the image, a big
inconvenience for many Google Maps users that may not have the necessary
software.
