Just tested it out in Chrome. Pretty sure they're just relying on Chrome tab mirroring to send an audio stream, rather than actually implementing any Chromecast functionality on desktop.
I see, thanks for checking that. Very weird setup on their part, then: the Android app does have proper cast functionality and boots into a dedicated BBC Sounds player, so it doesn't make much sense that they're not using that on desktop as well. Regardless, feel free to close this if such behavior is out of scope.
It's not the only app that does this. Desktop Chromecast doesn't get as much love as mobile these days, sadly. Crunchyroll even removed the desktop cast functionality that they already had if I remember correctly.
I'll leave this open in case they make any improvements in the future (or if Firefox implements tab audio capture so I can do audio mirroring).
App name: BBC Sounds App URL: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds App ID (if possible):
This is the BBC's radio/podcast service. It is distinct from BBC iPlayer. It is available internationally. BBC has an instructions page on how to cast to a Chromecast. They don't have an in-browser Cast button, you're supposed to just use the (Chrome) browser Cast button, I don't know if fx_cast supports this usage?
Issues: Doesn't work at all. Unable to cast with right-click > Cast... or from the extension toolbar.
