The following commands in the standalone installation section require root.
mkdir -p /usr/local/lib /usr/local/bin
tar -xvzf heroku-OS-ARCH.tar.gz -C /usr/local/lib
ln -s /usr/local/lib/heroku/bin/heroku /usr/local/bin/heroku
