It's obviously difficult to give even approximate estimates of when things will be completed, but maybe guidelines/ballpark estimates based on past features could work e.g. "Things in the research column usually take 3 - 9 months to ship". The roadmap as it is is difficult to use to guide my team's plans as all I can read into each tile is "It's coming sometime".
A similar gap is I wonder what happens to the left of the research column. While the list of feature requests you have is probably too long to be useful to include, perhaps you could have a "considering/candidate for up next" column for the things which you are seeing a lot of demand for. e.g. I came to this roadmap hoping to see something about support for AWS roles. I would guess it's a feature much in demand, and possibly it's high up your 'things to consider next' list, but the roadmap does not tell me that.
But great to see you publishing the roadmap - very positive move 👍
I really appreciate the roadmap idea and such open communications with users.
The roadmap was a great, much needed addition. Frankly I think many folks were wondering if Salesforce was just slowly killing off Heroku. This will at least give us some view into how much is being invested in Heroku and to judge for ourselves whether this is a platform worth investing in - particularly important as an enterprise customer that has to decide if we're hitching ourselves to another year of contract or not.
Adding via the Issues tab presents a form based template for adding ideas, however adding via the Roadmap page (bottom of each column) presents a more freeform means. Is there a way to unify them around the form based template approach?
Is there an easy way to click and navigate to the Issues tab from the Roadmap view page?
I think it's a great way of being open about your plans, especially since I can selectively subscribe to updates on certain roadmap items (much more reliable than an account manager telling you about it, or not!). More frequent updates would be appreciated though.
The "Working on it" and "Coming Soon" views are a good level of exposing commitment.
I second the feedback on indicative priorities in the "Research" column - it would be good to get a feel for "likelihood".
We would love to hear your feedback on this roadmap itself! What do you like or dislike? What can we do to be better?
