Device not registered for user. #328

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Please answer the questions about build version and network, will save
developers a lot of time !

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Clicking to send anything to the phone
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected it to send item to phone, but instead this message "Device not
registered for user." pops up in the little status message that should say that
it was successfully sent to my phoen.

What version of the android, in Settings -> About phone -> Build number (
ex. FRFxx ) ? If less than FRF50 - see the FAQ.
3.26.605.1 CL264707

Is the phone using WiFi or mobile network when problem occurs ? If Wifi,
are you behind a firewall that blocks outgoing connections ?
Using 3G

Can you open "Gmail" application ? Do you see new messages without hitting
'refresh' ?
Yes, everything else works fine.

Can you open "Talk" application ? Do you see incoming chats ?
Yes.

Please provide any additional information below.
This just started happening a couple weeks ago, no other issues have happened
on my phone, it all works as expected but without the ability to send things
from the Chrome extension anymore.

I'm experiencing the same "Device not registered for user." error above. I have
some more details that may help.

Everything is as as above, except for:
* The build number. I'm using a new Nexus S that has been auto-upgraded from
the initial 2.3.3 to 2.3.4, and the Build Number is GRJ22.
* I've never tried the "Talk" application, so I don't know if it works as
expected or not.

The phone is only a few weeks old, and I've never had ChromeToPhone working on
it. (The initial report above seems to have had it working but it then stopped.)

Also, while I'm certain I've logged in on both the phone and Chrome with the
same username, it's a recently migrated username from a Google Apps For Your
Domain setup. I have no idea if this has any impact on the situation.

I've tried it with the phone using Wifi and the phone using 3G, and I've tried
using the ChromeToPhone extension on two different installations on two
different networks. I've signed out, I've used the 'Disconnect Phone' option,
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the application on the phone and the extension
in Chrome. None of this has worked - I just keep getting the "Device not
registered for user." error message.

Is there anything else I can do to help track this problem down? I've provided
all the information I can think of. I tried a network trace when click the
extension icon, but it seemed to just generate TLS-encrypted traffic that I
couldn't decrypt.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do.

Had same issue. Launched Chrome to Phone App on Nexus One - 'disconnected
phone' - then reconnected. Working now.

Interesting. I'd tried disconnecting and reconnecting the phone - several times
- before I posted here.

Your posted prompted me to try it again, and this time it worked!

So, all I did this time was disconnect the phone in the Android app, exit the
app, open the app again and connect it to my account. After that it worked.

My guess is that something on the backend has changed or been fixed, but I
don't know for sure. I'm just glad it's working for me now!

Many thanks,

Geoff

I also had this happen yesterday and tried the disconnect the phone in the app,
exited the app, and then it worked.

When you disconnect a cell phone are you simply turning it off?

Original comment by AY.Clem...@gmail.com on 28 Jun 2011 at 10:06

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
No, there's a specific 'disconnect' option. Open the 'Chrome to phone' app on
the phone, press the 'menu' button (not sure if that's the right name for it,
but it's the second hardware button on my Nexus S), choose 'Settings', then
press the 'Disconnect phone' button.

As I mentioned, I'd tried doing this repeatedly (to no effect) until 21st June,
when it all started working.

Good luck!

Geoff

Having the same problem, but when I disconnect my phone and try to reconnect
(all using the Android app on my phone)

Error: Unable to connect

I'm using wifi at the moment.

Experiencing he same problem after Verizon Thunderbolt upgrade to 2.3.4.

Tried to disconnect/reconnect my phone and it also gives me the 'unable to
connect' error. I'm on 3G so shouldn't be any problems.

Will try uninstalling/reinstalling app at a later time...

message on phone.

Using Nexus One: Android V 2.3.6, build GRK39F.
I can use gmail app without hitting refresh (new emails show up w/o hitting
refresh).
I can use talk app and I do see incoming chats.

Tried all variations of disconnect/reconnect + uninstall/reinstall app. Still
not working.

Having this problem with Motorola Defy. It used to work and now is not. I'm
very dissappointed with Google later and am seriously considering buying an
Iphone.

I had upgraded to a new phone and installed the Chrome To Phone apk on it.
I got the same problem but when I re-installed the extension in Chrome it
worked again.
Hope this helps

At first, I had the "Device not registered for user" problem on the Galaxy SII
from tMobile. BUT, You have to MAKE SURE you are signed into the correct gmail
account IN GOOGLE CHROME. You can have one Chrome browser window signed in to
one account and another Chrome browser window signed into another account. And,
even though I have a Google Apps account, it still worked for me. Ta daa. It
instantly worked.

I have the same problem, but with iPhone 4S.
If you know, i can enable Chrome to Phone option in settings of Chrome browser
by Google, which available in App Store.

Is this the wrong working option, or it's the problem with the extension?

Same problem. Newest version of Chrome for Windows 7, newly installed
extension, Nexus 4 with current updates, using Chrome on the Nexus 4. What I
really want is just a button on Maps that says send to phone. Some times I get
the option to send to GPS (?) I don't own a GPS, usually just email.

Device not registered for user.

I've tried disconnecting the device closing Chrome on the desktop, connecting
the device opening chrome on the desktop, logging back into my account. still
"Device not registered for user."

Newest "Google phone", newest version of chrome, newest version of extension,
not sure what to do from here.

I too have the same problem. The mightytext.com/app/ works, it doesn't auto
update on receiving a message, but the chrome extension popup works. Then after
opening the popup to respond it says device not registered. I can go to the
website though and respond properly, and the website shows my message from the
extension but my phone never receives them.

Chrome: Version 24.0.1312.57 m
MightyText extension: 9.0
MightText app: 3.30
Phone: Galaxy Nexus CyanohenMod version 10.1-20130201-NIGHTLY-toro
Android Version: 4.2.1

Solution: Sign out and sign in back to mobile chrome. If that doesn't work
re-install chrome on mobile.
