It seems that El Capitan in Safari 9.x automatically disables "File/Close Tab" (and some others) menu items (and related hotkeys/gestures), which unfortunately happens also with "Hide Tabbar if sidebar Exists" setting of Safari Stand checked.
As the sidebar "Close Tab" local menu item still works, May I kindly ask for adding the "Close Active Tab" item also to the "Stand" main menu item (maybe with some not colliding hotkey)? This would effectively solve the above described problem, as well as the CMD+W behavir described in another thread...
