one last point, when i mention video detected, i mean the features in WCS where
u can either show the Desktop by following the mouse or choose an area of the
screen to broadcast, or using a photograph, exc...
stickam doesnt pick anything up, not even a scrambled video or even just the
default WCS grey background, its just straight black/blank

I am currently broadcasting using Stickam (Flash 10.3). Everything is working
well. Using Ubuntu, Firefox on amd64. But I see that Flash is pretty heavy on
resources...
I'll check with the latest version of Flash to validate

Yes, everything seems to work as expected. I do use the build amd64 since I'm
running a 64bits system.

I'm also having the same issue with Stickam. WCS .57, Flash 11+ Beta, Ubuntu
10.04 LTS on an Acer Aspire netbook with embedded webcam with an Intel Atom 1.6
GHZ processor and 1 GB RAM. Webcam on the netbook works on say Tinychat with
WCS, but not Stickam. In selecting my video device for Stickam, it only allows
me to choose the Webcam Studio Device (V4L2 device). It's black/blank, and same
audio problem-although I can work around the audio by using an external mic.
Also same issue on my desktop-posted it as a separate issue, since it's more
than just Stickam my tower doesn't work with.

Another correction: By going through Stickam itself, I can use my embedded
webcam on my netbook just fine. The issue results in using WCS, that's when I
get nothing. When trying to watch shows hosted by Stickam on other websites (I
tried gptvnetwork.com) and it would not allow me to use my webcam, either with
or without WCS running.
