convert espa to hdf fails on polar scene

I warped a polar scene from -71 Latitude True Scale to -72 Latitude True Scale

and the convert_espa_to_hdf fails with the following ESPA log erro

Application failed to execute [convert_espa_to_hdf --del_src_files --xml 
LE72171072003051EDC00.xml --hdf LE72171072003051EDC00.hdf]

------------
after running manually in a developer environment, convert_espa_to_hdf reports 
the following

Processing SDS: band1
Processing SDS: band2
Processing SDS: band3
Processing SDS: band4
Processing SDS: band5
Processing SDS: band61
Processing SDS: band62
Processing SDS: band7
Processing SDS: band8
Error: create_hdf_metadata : Setting dimension name (YDim) for dimension 0 and 
SDS 8.

Error: convert_espa_to_hdf : Creating the HDF metadata file 
(LE72171072003051EDC00.hdf) which links to the raw binary bands as external 
SDSs.
