Why? Mainly because this is currently a mess and very error prone. Plus: now that I got a hang of how monitors are used, I don't see any real use case any more. However, it may still be useful to plot multiple runs with different initial conditions or subsequent sequences in the same figure. But this isn't covered by the current approach anyway.
