First let me say that I have read the instructions and understand that DSDT patching is required to get this completely working.
I created this issue because there are no clear instructions that I can find for how this applies to an OpenCore boot since patching DSDT.aml isn't the norm.
I got just over half of the function keys working on my OpenCore Catalina installation thanks to AsusSMC, those being:
Sleep
Screen Off
Disable Touchpad
Volume Mute
Volume Down/Up
Arrow Media Keys
I do not yet have these keys working:
Airplane Mode
Keyboard Backlight Down/Up
Screen Brightness Down/Up
Switch Screen (can't test and doesn't matter because I don't use an external screen)
I know other users have asked questions relating to patching the DSDT for AsusSMC on OpenCore, since everything in the Dortania guide uses SSDT-XXXX patches instead. However, the information I was able to gather around this subject in regards to AsusSMC is not enough for me to comprehend. What is the next step to get those final keys working? Is there a way to do it that conforms to the standard OpenCore patching process?
Thank you so much for the incredible work that's been put in to getting ASUS laptop keyboards working fully. It's been a bumpy road getting to this point (multiple previous failed attempts), but once this last thing is ironed out, I'll have my first completely functional Hackintosh!
