Somaliland not correctly represented according to ISO-3166-1 alpha-2 #104

Hi,

We have noticed that the northern part of Somalia, the self-proclaimed Republic of Somaliland, is shown as a separate country on your map. As Somaliland is not an officially recognized country, there should be no border with Somalia. An additional problem is that you have assigned SX as the country code for this area. SX is the ISO-3166-1 alpha-2 country code for Sint Maarten (Dutch part) located in the Caribbean. Somaliland has no ISO-3166-1 alpha-2 code.

Is there any chance in the near future that you will correct this?

Hi @jantornvall

If you are interested in getting a map without Somaliland then please refer to https://github.com/highcharts/map-collection-dist/issues/34

The maps are generated from sources that should be addressed the change - you might be interested in the related open issues. In this case, I believe it is Natural Earth, but I would have to see the map file to confirm. Somaliland map in the Map Collection is based on data from Natural Earth.

Is there any chance in the near future that you will correct this?

On https://code.highcharts.com/mapdata/ there is a list of countries and Somaliland is there. "country, territory, or area of geographical interest" is a full term that could be used to describe the division of the maps in terms of the top-most division - in most cases those are countries (however, one could argue about the definition of "country", so this is a bit tricky, if no slippery, topic). Would this work for you as the solution?
