Newly connected users/friends do not show correct online presence

Users affected? Miranda
User handle: @miranda
Bypass handle?: @testytester

Does this issue occur on other environments? Android/iOS & Prod/Staging
Time issue occurred (UTC)

Observed Result:

If both users are online and become friends they show as being offline. A kill/reload is required before they correctly show the online presence.

Expected Result:

Once users become friends they should properly show online presence. Kill/reload should not required.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. 2 devices - User 1 sends friend request to User 2
  2. User 2 taps on check mark to become friends
  3. User 1 & 2 show each other as offline even though they are both online.
  4. Kill/reload and the presence shows correctly.

I was able to reproduce this on Staging 4.18.2.
