Hello buddy, in raspbian jessie a shortcuts icon should be in “other” apps at start bottom, you can type iotpos or iotstock at terminal it doesn’t matter what directory you are located, just open a terminal and type: iotpos.
Thanks for getting back with me,
When I open up terminal and type iotpos I get back an error "bash: iotpos: command can not be found:
I am following the instructions found at " https://github.com/hiramvillarreal/iotpos/blob/master/INSTALL" .. I am following them exactly as they are printed with one exception. I did not load the spanish KDE app.
I have tried it on a Pi Zero and a Pi 3b and get the same results. I am still new to the Pi world but I do have some computer skills.

Ok it seems a installation step it is missing, let me check if the new raspbian version does not give a new installation problem, are you sure you did these steps without errors at terminal? cd iotpos/build make sudo make install
Hello Hiram,
I have been rereading your email and the website and I am even more confused. Your first email to me said "in raspbian jessie a shortcuts .... " But I have been looking and found that Raspbian and Jessie are 2 different OS for the Raspberry. The website I posted into my email to you from yesterday shows instructions for using Raspbian. So my question is, what OS should I be using? Jessie or Raspbian?
Thank you for the help you are providing, Paul

@Deadon68 did you get this working?
To help out Raspbian is the linux OS and Jessie is the version bit like windows is the software and 10 is the current version.
If you still having issue installing I've created a bash script to help you out if needed.
I built mine 2 days ago on latest Raspberian Stretch
Hello Shaggs, could you share the scripts, I been trying to create one too.
You can close this issue
Excuse me .. I have not been able to get the program to run at all .. I would ask that you (Shane Rees) not ask for an issue to be closed when it does NOT involve you.

A fix has now been put in place. Mainly being an install script. sudo chmod +X install.sh
then sudo ./install.sh
And for you info it DOES invole me as I did the install script trying to HELP YOU..
A thanks would be nice or if your still having trouble post exactly what you typing into terminal and the output so we can all see any errors you get.
First .. Do not request something to be closed until you know that the person having the problem has gotten said problem resolved OR all issues have to tried Second .. Went it takes a few days for people to be able to find the time to be able to try a fix you can not just ask for an issue to be closed just because it worked for you
This is quickly turning into a pissing match and your childish actions are only making it worse .. I will be EXTREMELY happy to tell god and the world THANKS .. BUT .. only after I figure out what it going wrong or what I am doing wrong. I clearly stated I am new to the Pi community and when people like you, do what you did, it makes people like me not want to even be a part of it.

@Deadon68 try script if you have issue please post the output from terminal and we will help you work it out from there
I am working in an all preinstalled SD image, I will upload it tonight.
I am using a new Pi 3B, SanDisk 32G speed 10, 3A power, keyboard, mouse & monitor connected. There is nothing else connected to the Pi
After formating the microSd, I copy NOOBS 2.4.5 to the microSD I put the microSD into the Pi and start it up .. I click on the install Rasbian and let it do its thing. Did the updates and followed the instructions posted at https://github.com/hiramvillarreal/iotpos/blob/master/INSTALL When I get to the part where it says to create a database & user on mysql .. I get a request for password .. seeing how there is not password I do the following :
sudo mysql -u root use mysql; update user set plugin=' ' where User='root'; flush privileges; exit;
This allows me to just hit enter when I type the "cat iotpos_mysql.sql | mysql -u root -p" and it asks for a password
I tried typing the "iotpos" I get the error "bash: iotpos: command not found"
So I tried "sudo chmod +X install.sh" as you said I should try. I get the error "chmod: cannot access 'install.sh': no such file or directory"

OK you need to clone the project first copy the following and run
git clone https://github.com/hiramvillarreal/iotpos
cd iotpos
sudo chmod +X install.sh
sudo ./install.sh
How do you mean "The web page changed how it appears I inter the information"??
What webpage?
i guess I am just too stupid to understand .. I followed the instructions that are posted on the wed site .. I have printed them and after typing the commands I am holding the paper next to the monitor to make sure I have typed them correctly.
line 32 clearly states "git clone https://github.com/hiramvillarreal/iotpos"
Now your saying I have to do it again?

OK if you have already done a clone do the following
cd iotpos
sudo chmod +X install.sh
sudo ./install.sh
I do that ..
cd iotpos sudo chmod +X install.sh sudo ./install.sh
When I type the "sudo ./install.sh" I get an error .. "sudo ./install.sh: command not found"
I typed ls and I can clearly see there is "install.sh"

What happened with the database was because you manually made one it could not create the database automatically populate it.
If you install onto a new pi next time do
git clone https://github.com/hiramvillarreal/iotpos
cd iotpos
Then
sudo sh install.sh

Yes
That's all you will need to do
I will rewrite the INSTALL file tonight
@Deadon68 if all is working now can you please close ticket...
Hi, I have followed the instructions and still says bash: iotpos: command not found
Can I please be guided through what I'm doing wrong?
Are you getting any output errors when you install?
What pi are you installing it on?
The more info the better we can help
Hi, thanks for replying. I am using a raspberry pi 3B+, and this error shows up:
Can't drop database 'iotposbd'; database doesn't exist
I have spent over a week, using 2 different Pi Zero and 3 different Pi 3B and I can not get this to work.
I can not find a way to start this program. I have followed ever single step, even had my wife do a build without me helping her and still no luck. Where the instructions say type "iotpos" .. in what file/dir should I be in?
