HISCOM 2017: Decided that lifeForm
is best dealt with as a trait (MeasurementOrFact presumably), so we don't a field for this, as it can go into measuermentUnit.
The same goes for ecological traits, such as vegetation, substrate, soil etc.
Reading the notes for lifeForm, I was reminded that we were intending to provide a vocabulary and/or a term to identify a controlled vocabulary. We have done the first, but once, we have actioned issue #100, we have a single vocabulary containing terms scraped from three different vocabularies, which still doesn't cover all the groups herbaria deal with.
I propose to split the lifeForm vocabulary and add a lifeFormVocabulary term. This will make it clear where the terms come from and allows people to use terms from different vocabularies, as long as they identify the vocabulary where they got the term from.
Audubon Core does a similar thing with Subject Category and Subject Category Vocabulary and at last week's HISCOM meeting the same solution was mentioned for Vegetation.
