Once the auto-updater is in place it might be good to replace the "Install" button with "Updated" and a different background color.
"new" as in since user last opened app store?
@w-hive I'm changing this ticket to be about "updated" only. This is what it looks like now.
If you still want the "new" banner, feel free to open a separate issue.
Actually I was assuming the apps would auto-update and the button would no longer be a button and say "Updated"
Auto-update is up to hive-osx. And once it's in place, without any change, app store will show "Installed" button for installed apps and "Installed" text for installed apps (well, assuming there's only a tiny window between when an app is updated and when auto-update picks up the update).
Once the update is automatic, would it make more sense for the "Updated" banner to be on the apps page rather than the app store then?
As for "New", the apps page could use the banner to indicate apps that are newly installed but never used. App store could also have a "New" banner but to indicate apps that are added since last time user opened app store

Great ideas.
Kind of like on iOS7?
I was thinking about more like iOS6. The "new" banner is more intention revealing than a blue dot IMHO.
Apps that are new or updated (as compared to what we have now) should have some kind of banner to indicate it.
