Invoke ring on doorbell remotely #1059

Closed durosity closed 5 months ago

Describe the feature request

This is more of a “is it possible”. Would it be possible to have a button to have a ring on the doorbell itself. As in so that it would ring any physically attached chimes on the doorbell as if someone had pressed the button at the front door?

Describe the proposed solution

None

Describe alternatives you have considered to the enhancement

Soldering a relay to the ring button itself, but that’s pretty janky!

Thanks for the request - I reread this a couple of times and I have no idea what you’re asking, I’m afraid. If your question is, as the title suggests, can ring events be triggered remotely in HBUP, they can. Please read the documentation for those details. Otherwise, you’re going to have to articulate your question or request in a way that I can understand…because right now, I can’t. 😄

Sorry, I read that back and it made no sense 😅

So, what I'm wanting is the ability to send a command to the doorbell from HomeKit that would be as if someone outside pressed the button, so rather than just triggering a ring event in HomeKit, it would be as if someone pressed the button at the door.

The reason I want this is because I want the physical chime attached to the doorbell to ring as well, which doesn't happen if I use the existing trigger in this software.

Does that make more sense? I suspect the simple answer is that it's not actually possible!
